Elvis, alive and well and singing in Mirfield, OH dear!

On Sunday 22nd July members and guests of Fearnley Mark Lodge were treated to a spectacular event featuring the one and only Elvis The event was held in aid of the West Yorkshire  Mark Benevolent Fund and organised by the one and only Worshipful Brother Rod Dyer; it was supported by our own Deputy Provincial Grand Master Alan Oldfield, no he did not sing so everyone enjoyed themselves.

A packed room of wide-eyed attendees enjoyed a lunch , quiz , raffle and first class entertainment.  Regular visitors to Fearnley will instantly have recognised the familiar “ Fearnley Special “ served for lunch, Home made Steak Pie with mushy peas and Bobby’s famous chunky chips, all followed with a delicious Tiramisu. The Elvis quiz was hotly contested and a 3 way tie was won, on a tiebreaker, by member Bro Ian Rainbird’s Graceland team.

Elvis impersonator (aka Kirk Kreole ) delivered his own inimitable style of entertainment, truly spectacular and Mr and Mrs Kreole can be truly proud of their son’s efforts.  All this reminds of my youth but I have to question, should it not be Mr and Mrs King Creole? Immediate Past Master Dyer assisted as only he can dressed in his very best white Elvis suit. Fearnley Charity Steward W Bro Keith Bradley reported that the raffle raised £183 and the whole event raised £500 for the Mark Benevolent Fund. A wonderful occasion enjoyed by all in the name of such a worthy cause. Well done Rod! It was Bob On!

My thanks go to W.Bro. Keith Bradley for submitting this to me, wish that I had been there. Two things spring to mind, when are others going to submit similar pieces and, Keith let me know if you ever want a job on the Communications Team.

N.B. Late News, Mark communication sources have it on good authority that a second Lunch with the same Entertainer, but two spots, is booked for Sunday 2nd December, book early to avoid disappointment, I have!
