Better than a ‘Hole in One’ at Integrity Lodge of MMM No.110, Golf Day

A warm, but somewhat blustery welcome on Tuesday, 2nd October for competitors at Oulton Hall Golf Resort for the last Integrity Charity Golf day. Last for Worshipful Brother John Simpson who for twelve years has dedicated his Company, Simpson Packaging, Corporate Golf day, initially to the Lodge, but then, for many years to Masonic Charities; the results have been amazing and the success is essentially down to W.Bro.John.

Whilst the attendance was a little down on the norm, nonetheless sixty five intrepid Golfers took to the green carpet and, if they are to be believed, thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Unfortunately twelve of them could not join us for the Dinner that followed, but an additional thirty four Diners were in attendance to enjoy a quality repast as one would expect from an Hotel of this quality.  Speakers then entertained , Kevin Connelly, the Impressionist being the highlight, after which the prizes were distributed, A raffle also took place, no surprises there for a Masonic event, when the assembled company were very generous in their support.

This was followed by the Provincial Grand Master, Right Worshipful Brother James Steggles G.M.R.A.C.  who received a cheque for one thousand pounds, that being in addition to the same amount given at the Installation, in favour of the Festival. He then surprised W.Bro. ohn by presenting him with the Grand Patron DiamondAward for Integrity Lodge, the first Mark Lodge in the Provinceto be so honoured. A very proud moment for all the Members of the Lodge and, no doubt for the Province of West Yorkshire.

Undoubtedly Integrity has been fortunate to have W.Bro.John as a member, without him this would not have been possible. However we are sharing this fortune with our sister Lodges in the Province, already in excess of two thousand pounds has   been distributed, to which can be added two thousand pounds from this event. This will continue throughout the duration of the Festival, anticipated to total in excess of ten thousand pounds by 2023.. It is, however, on a matched basis and the decision as to which Lodges receive the donation is in the hands of Very Worshipful Brother Richard Puttrell, Chairman of the Festival Committee and a Past Master of the Lodge.

Over the past five years or more I have written over three hundred items for the web site, please forgive me for just indulging myself this once, Wow, what a wonderful time to be, not just a Mark Master Mason but also, a Member of Integrity Lodge of MMM No. 110.
